The Yellow Ribbon Project

"I'm really still in prison and my love, she holds the key. A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free..."

A project that encourages the community to give ex-convicts a second chance at life. Truly inspiring and gives the song "Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" another meaning. This week, a group of volunteers have been standing around MRT stations giving out little cards that can be folded into a tree, with a yellow ribbon pinned on it. I gave a simple token because it's the first time I'm seeing them asking for donations, but never knew the meaning behind the yellow ribbon and the card until I read it today. The physical prison is tough, but the mental prison is tougher. How true are these words, and not only in the case of ex-convicts.
