Today's my grandmother's birthday. Happy Birthday Mama!
The entry today is not penned (or typed) for today, but for yesterday because yesterday was more eventful. Because of QRM, I had to walk around town searching for owners of restaurants who were willing to grant me an interview. As I was walking past TANGS, a tall guy waylaid me. I was shocked coz I'm not used to being waylaid by guys. Well, it turned out that he just wanted me to employ his eyebrow plucking services. He was hopping around me, flinging a crumpled laminated and folded piece of newspaper cutting with a picture of a guy in a Superman costume. He is Steven Lim or whatever his name is - Singapore's very own street eyebrow plucker. Not only did he not feel embarrassed about his stint on Singapore Idol, but even had the cheek to ask me if I saw him on TV. I wanted to say that I even saw his website with the not-so-nice pics. He began by praising me in Mandarin, saying that he is looking for a pretty girl, and that I am pretty with a very "qing1 xiu4" look but have messy eyebrows (translation: I want your money), and that he can correct the problem for me in 5 min for 10 bucks. Am I that cheap? Anyway, after some minutes of his nonsensical rhetoric and me saying no for the umpteenth time, he gave up. I don't admire his guts for doing weird stuff on SI, but I sure admire his determination and perseverance in getting business.
Anyhow, that wasn't the only interesting thing that happened yesterday. I had a blisteringly wonderful time going around town searching for owners of restaurants who were willing to let me interview. Eventually spoke to the brother of the owner of a restaurant, but it wasn't considered a proper interview, so I had no choice but to search again. And this time, I managed to garner an interview for Thursday. How cool is that?!
There are of course many other things that are cooler, like learning chi-square, T-tests. multiple regression, etc. But I shan't bore you with the details.
There's actually lots more to say, but my energy indicator is flashing, so au revoir. Enchante!
Regards,
Angeline
