One Long Day
Just got back from movie and dinner with Y. Zonked. The movie (Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) was not too bad, but everything's pretty much expected, and I can say I've watched better movies. The only thing that compensates for the movie would be the characters themselves - Ioan Gruffudd's Reed is the perfect guy: extremely intelligent (God, I'd die for his brains), good-looking, a bit nerdy and socially inept (which makes him so cute); Jessica Alba's blonde hair-blue eyed getup is rather intriguing in a disturbing way; Chris Evan's Torch's sensitive nature beneath his egoistic pig-headedness shows (which is kinda nice - guess sensitive men are really an attraction for me); and Michael Chiklis' Ben Grimm keeps me laughing throughout the movie. It was kinda nice that the Silver Surfer turned out to be a good guy and was so sweet as to risk his life to protect Susan Storm. At some point in time during the movie, I did think that perhaps some romance might ensue between the two, but I guess that probably didn't happen! Silly Galactus was so abstract it felt like a theoretical contribution, and the ending was kinda cheesy. Although I did hear from my friend that Galactus and the Silver Surfer are supposed to have greater powers than the F4 since they are "celestial superheroes" and not earthly ones. Would love to see a cosmic battle on the big screen sometime in the future. But for now, I guess I'll satisfy myself with the next blockbuster - Transformers.
PS. I was surfing for the names of the F4 actors, and found movie reviews on the Singapore Catholic Church website. So surprising! Wonder why...
