Kids' Day Out
I'm completely zonked after a day out with my two little cousins - Ah Ni and Ah Ling. They are the daughters of my mother's cousin, which makes them my distant cousins. Ah Ni is 5 years old this year and Ah Ling is 4, although Ah Ling is taller than Ah Ni ("by a little bit" - according to Ah Ni). Well, they are little cuties that had my entire family enamoured for the last couple of years when we visited them during Chinese New Year. They are bright and articulate although rather deprived and they are so tiny and cute that we promised to bring them out during Chinese New Year. Mum is on leave these few days and so we made good that promise.
After 7 hours with the two girls, my feet are aching, back is breaking (from carrying them when they are tired), and my ears finally have rest. I guess I am so used to listening only to the voice in my head that after 7 hours of hearing high-pitched little voices screaming "I want, I want", now my ears feel really empty, in a good way so I can finally hear myself. Gosh. It is surprising though that they are such shopaholics because we thought they were rather deprived children. Apparently, their grandparents and parents have indulged them by bringing them to many shopping centres and buying sweets and soft drinks and fries for them. They demanded sweets and chocolates and snacks and wanted to eat them there and then. We told them that they should bring it home and eat it after dinner, but they refused to. The little one even stamped her foot and told me "wo angry liao" in whatever English she can muster. At the end of it, when we sent them home, I realized why - their mother does not allow them to eat junk food at home. And therefore, they were busy finishing their lollipops in the car, afraid to even let their mother see the empty lollipop sticks. Smart kids! I also notice that they follow my mum around a lot more when they want to buy things, and when she says no they come to me to persuade her to buy it for them. Alas, instrumentality begins from young!
Anyway, I'm too tired to document all the little screaming details of our trip. So I've left the Underwater World part to the photos to do the talking... enjoy...
