The Pauper and Heaven
Recently, sermons have been drumming the idea of poverty and its positive correlation with a place in Heaven into churchgoers' minds. Some givers of the sermons are conscious enough to distinguish between "the bad and rich" and "the good and rich", thereby giving rich people some hope to enter into Heaven. Other fathers of the church are rather communistic in their approach and blatantly banish the rich into Hell. My sister commented that she is guaranteed a place in Heaven because she will never be rich. I wonder where I will be. But does this mean I give away all that I own to the poor so that I can enter Heaven? Won't the "ulterior motive" for doing so reduce your points with God? Won't I be depriving the poor of their places in Heaven then? I wonder... (the misinterpretations of the Bible - who is right and wrong - only God knows).
