Nodojiman in Singapore
This weekend has been an extremely hectic and exciting one for me. Ok. Perhaps it is more hectic for someone else involved, but the insertion of this event amidst my busy schedule has left me breathless and brainless. The three-day event was held at Suntec City Convention Hall 603 and it is perhaps a road to stardom for some people, while for others, it is just an avenue of fun. In those few days, I learnt the meaning of fun, of relaxation, of laughter, of enjoyment. The show which aired on Starhub Channel 43 at 11.15am on Sunday 2nd Nov was highly political. It was held in conjunction with the Singapore-Japanese Alliance month, and the finalists selected had adequate representation of the Japanese community in Singapore (centenarians, obasans, uncles, young girls and boys), as well as representatives from the Chinese, Malay, and Eurasian communities in Singapore. Not surprisingly, following PM Goh's speech, there was even a rep from the invisible minority. The result of the show was highly expected. They would choose a female (to show that they are not discriminating against females...or perhaps to prevent females from crying) and someone young (to represent youth and vitality and hope in the future of Singapore and Japan). The female selected was also one displaying most feminine traits. Perhaps what they say about Jap guys are true after all...
