Uncivil Singaporeans
Yesterday, I was discussing the topic of incivility on Academic Contemplations (my other blog) and today, it seems that all uncivil behavior that could be exhibited by these "ugly" Singaporeans surfaced right in front of me. I was at Hello! Singtel looking at mobile phone models on this touch-screen tv when this man came right behind me (so close I could almost feel him breathing down my neck...literally!) and started touching the phones that were attached to the left and right of the screen. He was talking loudly to someone else beside him, who was almost as close to my back as he was. Feeling physically oppressed and claustrophobic, I moved to escape the disgusting hot and sweaty breath of the guy and his compadre. Later on, he still had the cheek to look me in the eye when he was in the wrong. Then, later on, while queuing up at the cashier, this elderly Chinese couple came along and pretended that they didn't know where the queue was and started elbowing their way in front of me when I was obviously in the queue before them. All these reminded me of the article written by a 2nd year political science (nus) student in yesterday's The New Paper, in which he commented on ugly Singaporeans. It didn't occur to me to blog about this tonight until my friend sent me this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4uG85Oaca_o. Is this the ultimate or what?
